Spicy Squash Cakes

Theses Spicy Squash cakes are real treat for your tastebuds. Crunchy outside & soft on the inside will make these cutlets your favorite appetizer. You will relish your tea time with these easy to make squash cakes.

I mostly enjoy a sweet squash dish OR a warm, delicious & healthy squash soup. It’s subtle flavor make anything really delicious.  But, this time I changed my mind and thought of making something different with squash. So, I came up with these beautiful, crunchy & soft Squash cakes.

Let’s indulge with me in these crispy Squash cakes and see how easy is the making.

Ingredients (Serves 2-4 people)

Spicy Squash Cakes:

  • Squash – 1.5 cups (Choose any squash of your liking, I used Acorn Squash)IMG_8866

  • Carrot grated – 1/2 cup

  • Cauliflower grated – 1/2 cup

  •  Boiled potato – 1 small

  • Chaat masala – 1 tsp

  • Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp

  • Garam masala – 1/4 tsp

  •  Coriander powder – 1/4 tsp

  • Black pepper powder – 1/8 tsp

  • salt to your taste

  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Soya granules – For coating

  • Canola Oil for frying ( you can take any other oil of your choice)

Preparation:

  • scoop out 1.5 cups squash.

  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, cook the squash with 1/2  cup grated carrot, 1/2  cup grated cauliflower, and all the spices listed above.

  • When the above mixture is cooked properly, mix 1 small boiled potato and switch off the flame.

  • Set it to cool down for 10-15 minutes.

  • Once cold, make big lemon size balls and flat them with your palm.

  • Now coat your squash cakes with soya granules to make them crunchy.

  • Heat your oil and deep fry your prepared squash cakes on a high flame for 2-3 seconds.

  • Your spicy, crispy & soft squash cakes are ready in no time.squash2

  • Serve them with any sauce of your choice.
